2012-11-03 — /travelprnews.com/ — Christchurch International Airport Limited (CIAL) last night won the award for the New Zealand medium to large company which has most improved its staff engagement, as part of the 13th Kenexa Best Workplaces Survey.
CIAL chief executive Jim Boult is delighted his staff are as happy to come to work as he is.
“While it’s very nice to win this award, it’s much more pleasing to know CIAL staff are happy to be here,” he says. “An award was never our goal – it was always about being a great place to work.
“Four years ago, our staff were ranked at the very bottom of the Kenexa Best Workplaces Survey. We worked on turning that around and have had double-digit improvement every year since. That’s very significant by anyone’s standard and Kenexa tells me it’s a very rare achievement.
“We are now amongst the country’s most engaged staff teams, which sits well alongside our vision to be the best airport. One of our goals is to have an engaged team of staff who perform strongly.
“When staff are happy in their work, they work well and are productive, so there’s a commercial upside – but my reward as Chief Executive is to know people are happy coming to work here.”
