Christchurch Airport First Globally to Deploy PACE Airports Real-Time Emissions Platform

This platform delivers near–real-time data on more than 99 percent of commercial flight emissions—analyzing 370,000 routes and 10 billion data points, including engine-specific CO₂ outputs and local condition adjustments. Historically, flight emissions data were compiled annually and segmented into broad categories such as domestic, regional, and long-haul. PACE Airports transforms this approach by delivering near–real-time intelligence on aviation emissions, covering over 99 percent of global commercial routes. The system monitors some 370,000 individual flight paths and analyzes more than 10 billion data points, even differentiating emissions by engine type and adjusting for local operating conditions.

While Christchurch Airport has long focused on curbing its own ground-based carbon footprint, this advanced platform enables in-depth insight into aircraft emissions at their gates. These granular data will guide evidence-based discussions with airline partners and inform strategic decisions on technology transition and sustainability investments across the airport’s wider ecosystem.
