Christchurch Airport announced it appointed key China trade representative for its South initiative

2013-07-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — Swallow Wang currently based in Shanghai, has been appointed as the key China Trade Representative to support the South Island Tourism Industry.

South, an initiative launched by Christchurch Airport, is pleased to announce the appointment of Swallow Wang. Prior to this appointment Swallow was the Asia Sales Director for Southern World Vacations based in Shanghai.  Previous to this she was based in Auckland for 15 years working in the New Zealand tourism industry.

Funded by the 13 Regional tourism Organisations around the South Island in conjunction with Christchurch Airport, Swallow will focus on assisting wholesalers and the trade in developing South Island itinerary’s and helping grow the brand in China.

Dave Hawkey, Manager South, says “having the support both financially and strategically of all the regional tourism organisations in the South Island is a significant milestone as we collectively resource sales and marketing activity in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.  Having someone of Swallow’s calibre with her knowledge of the South Island of New Zealand, coupled with her relationship with trade in Chinese market will prove invaluable.”

The South Island is currently only receiving 25% of Chinese arrivals into New Zealand.  Many travellers’ book their trip to New Zealand with the expectation of experiencing stunning scenery, mountains, lakes and associated activities.  The South Island delivers on this promise.
