China Highlights Its Snowy Landscapes Winter Festivals and Spring Festival Traditions for American Travelers

(NEWS) NEWPORT BEACH, CA, 2026-Feb-25 — /Travel PR News/ — China National Tourist Office in Los Angeles is spotlighting China’s winter travel appeal through a Chinese New Year showcase in Southern California, highlighting snow festivals, seasonal traditions and cold-weather destinations as part of a broader effort to position the country as a year-round tourism choice. The event will take place February 28 at Fashion Island in Newport Beach, where visitors will be introduced to the cultural significance of the Spring Festival alongside winter-themed travel experiences across China.

As outlined in information released by the tourism office, the showcase will emphasize winter as a distinctive season for travel in China — a time when historic landmarks, cultural festivals and natural landscapes take on a different character. Exhibits and displays will feature major seasonal attractions such as the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, snow-covered sections of the Great Wall, traditional lantern celebrations and scenic cold-weather destinations known for ice sculptures and winter landscapes.

The event will also explore how Chinese New Year coincides with the country’s largest annual travel period, when millions journey across the country to celebrate the Spring Festival. Organizers say the celebration provides a natural opportunity to introduce international audiences to winter traditions and travel experiences, from temple fairs and regional cuisines to ski resorts and seasonal cultural events.

Visitors attending the Newport Beach event can expect festive lantern displays, holiday decorations and photo installations inspired by Spring Festival customs. Informational exhibits will present winter festivals, UNESCO-listed cultural sites and regional culinary traditions, illustrating the diversity of experiences available during the colder months.

Promotional content highlighting winter travel in China will also appear on digital screens throughout Fashion Island during the activation, extending the campaign’s reach beyond the event space. According to the China National Tourist Office, the initiative aims to raise awareness of China’s winter tourism offerings and encourage American travelers to consider the destination outside traditional peak seasons.

Through the winter-themed campaign and cultural programming, the tourism office hopes to present China not only as a destination for historic landmarks and major cities but also as a place where seasonal travel experiences — particularly during winter — offer a different perspective on the country’s landscapes and traditions.
