Charleston International Airport welcomes three new restaurant and retail outlets from Delaware North

North Charleston, S.C., 2016-Oct-24 — /Travel PR News/ — Delaware North, a global hospitality and food service company, today (10/21/2016) formally celebrated the opening of three new restaurant and retail outlets at Charleston International Airport (CHS). Jack Nicklaus Golden Bear Grill, a restaurant designed by the golf legend, Caviar & Bananas, a southern-style gourmet market, and Harvest & Grounds, a coffee and retail kiosk, all opened during the summer as part of the airport’s ongoing Terminal Redevelopment and Improvement Program (TRIP).

Delaware North marked the openings with a ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside Jack Nicklaus, his wife, Barbara, Kris Furniss, co-owner of Caviar & Bananas, officials from CHS and the Airport Employment and Training Center (AETC).

Golden Bear Grill features memorabilia and family photos hand-picked by Jack and Barbara Nicklaus to connect customers to the storied legacy of golf’s greatest champion, ambassador, course designer and philanthropist. The restaurant not only celebrates the game of golf, it also celebrates the life and lifestyle that surrounds the game. Barbara worked closely with Delaware North’s concept and design team to create the warm, inviting and comfortable interiors.

The menu was also a collaboration between Barbara and a team of chefs, with many of the recipes featured coming from Barbara and her daughter Nan’s cookbook, “Well Done!” Items including “Jack’s Favorite Greens,” a salad with romaine and iceberg lettuce, gorgonzola, red onion and smoked bacon; meatloaf; chicken parmesan; and “Buckeyes,” a chocolate peanut butter treat paying homage to Jack and Barbara’s home state of Ohio are some of the featured items straight from the Nicklaus family’s kitchen.

The restaurant complements the Nicklaus Companies’ portfolio of licensed products—especially those in food and beverage. And it also furthers their mission to tie in charity. There are a number of Nicklaus-branded products that have a charitable tie-in, including: Nicklaus Golf Balls; Jack Nicklaus Wine by Terlato Wines; AquaHydrate water; Golden Bear Lemonade by AriZona, and Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream. Most of the products mentioned are available in the restaurant and each gives back to charity. The Golden Bear Grill is no exception, as consumers have the option to add a donation to the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital with every check.

Golden Bear Grill at CHS is the second location for the restaurant— the first location was opened at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in July.

Caviar & Bananas, a Charleston-area specialty foods store, offers a variety of locally sourced gourmet foods, bottled wines and beer, packaged snacks, freshly made salads and sandwiches, and wide assortment of cold beverages. The concept was founded in Charleston eight years ago and has since carved a niche as a gourmet market and cafe offering good food, coffee and catering. It has several locations throughout Charleston, including two at CHS, as well as in Greenville, S.C. and Nashville, Tenn.

Harvest & Grounds is a Euro-American bakery and café serving freshly baked pastries, espresso drinks, sandwiches, salads, gourmet bite-to-eat plates, and packaged snacks. The concept was developed by Delaware North and can be found in airports around the country. With two locations at CHS (one pre-security and one in the Central Food Hall), Harvest & Grounds proudly serves King Bean coffee— an award-winning, local favorite in Charleston.
