Celebrate the Chinese New Year with a specially crafted feast from Head Chef Tony Truong at Mei Ume at Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square

London at Ten Trinity Square, 2019-Jan-18 — /Travel PR News/ — From February 1 to 16, 2019, Mei Ume at Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square will welcome the Chinese New Year with a specially crafted feast from Head Chef Tony Truong. To celebrate the Year of the Pig, the restaurant will be adorned with traditional red lanterns and Mandarin trees, and following tradition, guests will be invited to write their wishes on cards to hang on the wishing tree at the entrance of restaurant. On February 5, a calligrapher will be on hand to create beautiful hand-crafted takeaway gifts for each guest before a sitting down to eat.

For a truly memorable group celebration, the private dining room can be booked for up to 13 guests with an exclusive set of china and a special feasting menu inspired by the Manchu Han Imperial Feast, one of the grandest meals ever documented in Chinese cuisine, which included more than 100 different dishes.

The Chinese New Year menu will include a steamed dim sum platter, suckling pig and jellyfish salad, and golden crispy five spice pigeon. A dish of braised abalone, an Eastern seafood delicacy, will take centre stage, served with sea cucumber in oyster sauce. Cocktails will be a firecracker of Chinese spirits and flavours including mandarin syrup and Pu Ehr Tea infused vodka. For dessert, Tony will present a Chinese New Year Cake, or nian gao, traditionally made with glutinous rice to symbolise the promise of a better year. According to legend, feeding the Chinese Kitchen God this sticky rice cake prevents him from passing on an unfavourable report on the family and ensuring good luck for the year to come.

“Chinese New Year is the longest and most auspicious holiday of the Chinese calendar, symbolising new beginnings and also marking the start of spring – it’s my favourite time of year! At Mei Ume we wanted to capture that sense of abundance and hope for those celebrating in London,” says Head Chef Tony Truong.

The Chinese New Year menu will be available at Mei Ume from February 1 to 16, 2019 for GBP 88 per person. The Private Dining Room with special set-up is available from GBP 138 per person. Reservations can be made online or by emailing diningreservations.tri@fourseasons.com.

Mei Ume’s Chinese and Japanese à la carte menu will be available as normal during this time too.
