Cathay Pacific Services Limited becomes one of the first organisations to be awarded IATA CEIV Fresh certification

Cathay Pacific Services Limited recognised for perishables handling; world’s first to receive IATA CEIV Fresh certification

Hong Kong, China, 2019-Mar-13 — /Travel PR News/ — Cathay Pacific congratulates Cathay Pacific Services Limited (CPSL), its wholly-owned subsidiary, on becoming one of the first organisations to be awarded IATA CEIV Fresh certification, a globally-recognised perishable product handling accreditation.

The certification, which was also awarded to the Hong Kong Airport Authority at the IATA World Cargo Symposium earlier today, underscores the speed, consistency and efficiency of all stakeholders in Hong Kong International Airport when it comes to the treatment and transportation of perishable products.

Cathay Pacific is working to become the world’s first airline to be CEIV Fresh certified, in May 2019.

In harness with aviation industry stakeholders and regulators, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) created the Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) with the aim of helping organisations involved in the air cargo supply chain achieve handling excellence.

The state-of-the-art Cathay Pacific Cargo Terminal in Hong Kong, which is operated by CPSL, offers a broad spectrum of logistical solutions for the airfreight industry. By combining advanced technology with streamlined work flows, CPSL has set new service benchmarks for the industry while customers can benefit from reduced connection times and faster collection of Cathay Pacific’s Fresh LIFT shipments.

Cathay Pacific Director Commercial and Cargo Ronald Lam said: “Congratulations to CPSL. IATA’s CEIV Fresh certification is an achievement that our airline aims to emulate in the near future.

“A collaborative approach among all stakeholders enables the airfreight community to provide meticulous care for fresh produce during transit. It will not only provide superior value to our customers but also contribute to the success of Hong Kong as a key international airfreight hub for perishables.”

Cathay Pacific is one of the world’s biggest international air cargo carriers, operating a dedicated freighter fleet to 46 destinations as well as managing cargo capacity on passenger flights operated by both Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon.
