Cathay Pacific plans to resume New York service on Thursday

2012-11-02 — /travelprnews.com/ — Cathay Pacific Airways announced that it plans to resume its scheduled service to New York starting 1 November with the expected reopening of the John F Kennedy International Airport. However, the following flight today (31 October) has been cancelled in addition to the previously announced cancellations of CX830 from Hong Kong and CX845, CX841 and CX831 from New York.

Flight CX889 on 31 October will be operating between Vancouver and Hong Kong only and the sector between New York and Vancouver will be cancelled.

“John F Kennedy International Airport has sustained considerable damage and we expect it will take some time to become fully functional after it reopens. Therefore, our flights to and from New York on 1 November are still subject to disruption and it may be some time before we are able to get everyone to their destinations. Passengers should be aware that local transport within the city is very limited, and services at the airport in general may be inhibited by airport staff’s inability to get to work” said a Cathay Pacific spokesperson.

Passengers without confirmed bookings are advised not to go to the airport. Cathay Pacific will assist with alternative arrangements for affected passengers.

The airline will waive all rebooking, rerouting, cancellation and refund charges for Cathay Pacific tickets issued worldwide on or before 28 October 2012 for travel on Cathay Pacific with confirmed bookings involving New York between 29 October and 2 November 2012. Passengers are advised to check the latest flight information on the airline’s website www.cathaypacific.com before departing for the airport. They are also advised to enter their contact details in the Manage My Booking function on the website to ensure they receive the latest flight updates via SMS or email.
