Budapest Airport to launch fall city breaks travel campaign together with the airlines

Barely a few days after Norwegian announced the launch of a new Budapest-London Gatwick flight next spring, other airlines have decided to increase frequencies from the Hungarian capital. In parallel, Budapest Airport is launching a fall travel campaign together with the airlines, focusing primarily on city breaks.

Budapest, Hungary, 2013-10-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — Not long after Wizz Air launched its flight to Moscow-Vnukovo, the low cost carrier announced that as of 31 March 2014, it will fly the route between the Hungarian and the Russian capital every day instead of five times a week. Due to the huge demand, Wizz Air also decided on further increases to its existing flights. Between 14 June and 14 September 2014, its Airbus A 320 aircraft will commute between Budapest and Moscow twice a day, whilst during this Christmas and Easter next year, it will operate additional flights to accommodate the large number of bookings received.

Wizz Air is due to launch its first real long haul flight to Dubai this weekend, with the first aircraft set to land at Budapest Airport at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. As part of its efforts to enhance passenger comfort, Wizz Air now offers simplified visa administration to Moscow, Dubai and Baku on its website. During the winter travel season, easyJet will be increasing the frequency of its flight between Basel and Budapest. In addition to the existing services on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the carrier will be adding a further frequency on Thursdays as of 31 January 2014, due to be operated with an Airbus A 319. easyJet offers flights to two Swiss cities from Budapest, commuting daily to Geneva and five times a week to Basel, with this latest increase. The launch of these new frequencies was preceded by lengthy preparation work. The airlines in question and Budapest Airport made the final decision during the Routes World route development conference held in Las Vegas earlier this October. In parallel, this fall Budapest Airport and its airline partners have launched a joint travel campaign, in October and November. “The aim of our ‘There’s no place like somewhere else’ campaign is to offer exciting weekend city breaks for passengers,” emphasized Kam Jandu, chief commercial officer for Budapest Airport. “With this promotion we would like to disprove the popular misconception that it is only worth traveling abroad in July or August, during the summer holiday season. On the contrary, fantastic trips with great discounts are available during the winter as well. Our campaign, implemented using both traditional means as well as the internet and Facebook, helps passengers find exciting destinations during the winter season, be it a two or three-day city break on a long weekend or a longer, exotic holiday.”
