BUDAPEST, Hungary, 2018-Dec-18 — /Travel PR News/ — Taking passengers’ feedback into consideration, Budapest Airport has started the implementation of major refurbishments and significant extensions of washroom facilities at the airport. In addition, Budapest Airport has been working closely with a new cleaning service provider, B+N Referencia Zrt, on the continuous improvement of cleanliness at the airport.
Based on the experiences in the last summer peak and feedback from passengers, Budapest Airport reviewed the condition of all sanitary blocks at the airport. As a result of this review, the airport operator has started works to double the number of washrooms in the busiest areas – specifically in the SkyCourt food & beverage area and in the T2B baggage reclaim hall – with works due for completion prior to the 2019 summer schedule period while all other sanitary blocks will also be refurbished. In addition, Budapest Airport is targeting a higher quality of cleaning and has started to work together with a cleaning company with excellent references, B+N Referencia Zrt, one of the biggest facility management service providers in Hungary, the new majority owner of Airport Security Kft.
Péter Huszka, Chief Operations Officer of Budapest Airport said, “We had to review several criteria when the project was started – after all, the airport is a special place, receiving passengers 24 hours a day. We have to cooperate with a cleaning company that is able to perform the cleaning of toilets quickly and effectively, at the highest possible level of quality. All this is guaranteed by the wide range of professional experience, commitment to quality, and transparent operation of B+N Referencia Zrt (the company behind Airport Security Zrt).” The COO also pointed out, “Based on the summer season behind us, it has become apparent that the number of washrooms has to be increased in line with the increasing number of passengers we are serving, as in spite of more frequent cleaning during peak periods the condition of washrooms was not adequate, during peak time falling below the quality level that we would like to offer to our passengers.”
“It is a great pleasure for us to greet Budapest Airport among our clients. We are convinced that at a location as challenging as an international airport, we will be able to offer our usual high-quality service,” said Ferenc Kis-Szölgyémi, CEO of B+N Referencia Zrt. He added, “It is important for us to ensure that visitors to our country have a positive first impression, and therefore our company will do everything in its power to ensure that passengers can enjoy a properly clean environment at the airport both during and subsequently to the refurbishment effort. In order to achieve this, we are increasing the headcount of cleaners and revising processes, and are about to introduce a new quality control system.”
In addition to refurbishing the most heavily used washrooms, Budapest Airport will also complete a major capacity extension. Refurbishment means full-scale mechanical and electrical upgrades of the facilities, including the replacement of all pipes and cables. This project has been commenced and will add to the already completed refurbishment program started last year when Budapest Airport handed over refurbished washrooms in Terminal 2A, the quality of which has met all expectations. By the end of the project, sanitary facilities totaling 500 square meters will be refurbished, thereby ensuring that passengers can use the enhanced sanitary blocks with doubled capacity throughout the terminal already during the summer of 2019.
