BUDAPEST, Hungary, 2018-Nov-26 — /Travel PR News/ — The construction of a six-level multi-storey car park (MSCP) was ceremoniously started in front of Terminal 2 of Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport. In the area closed to the public since 1 October, a multifunctional car park building accommodating 2500 vehicles is to be erected. After handover, drivers and their passengers will be able to walk over directly to the terminal. Over the last five years, Budapest Airport spent no less than 12 million EUR (4 billion HUF) on car park development.
After grading and demolition works, the construction of the new six-level MSCP at Liszt Ferenc International Airport was started by cutting the first sod. The new building scheduled for handover to drivers in the second quarter of 2020 will accommodate 2500 vehicles in total. Car rental service providers and their vehicles will occupy the bottom level, and the building will feature e-charging stations, a car wash service, and so-called XXL parking spaces for the increasingly popular urban SUVs. In front of the MSCP, Budapest Airport is also installing a dedicated area for tour buses and the BKK services.
The construction of the MSCP is part of BUD 2020, the airport development program of Budapest Airport, in the framework of which the company is investing EUR 160-180 million (HUF 55-60 billion) of its own resources into the development of the infrastructure of Liszt Ferenc International Airport. The total cost of construction of the MSCP is approximately 40 million EUR (13 billion HUF). The construction tender was won by KÉSZ Építő Zrt, a company that proved its professionalism by completing the SkyCourt terminal building as well as Pier B, the Non-Schengen passenger pier.
“I am proud that with this project we can continue to expand the infrastructure of Budapest Airport and can make the pre-flight phase of the journey more convenient for travelers arriving by car or by buses at the airport.” said Jost Lammers, CEO of Budapest Airport.
“As during the past decade of joint teamwork with Budapest Airport I promise that we will make all efforts to complete the multi-storey car park building in high quality and within the given timeframe, thus supporting the development strategy of BUD and serving the comfort of the passengers.” said Zoltán Sáray, CEO or KÉSZ Építő Zrt. He also wished good health and endurance to all those employees and partners involved in the project.
