Budapest, Hungary, 2020-Apr-28 — /Travel PR News/ — The air cargo handling complex called the BUD Cargo City has been operating at Ferenc Liszt International Airport since January, when the first building and the apron space for aircraft handling was opened. The world-class logistics base, which is running at full capacity even in the current, difficult economic situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, has now became fully operational with the completion of the second building and all tenants moving in, including cargo-partner, Budapest Airport’s long-term partner.
As part of Budapest Airport’s project aimed at developing the ideal air cargo infrastructure for the CEE region, forwarder partners (who specialize in forwarding air cargo and organizing transportation) took over their leased warehouses in March. The BUD Cargo City at Ferenc Liszt International Airport thus became fully operational. The Forwarder Building enhances the capacities of the BUD Cargo City with an 11 600 square meter warehouse area and a separate, three-story office section. The entire Cargo City complex is fully leased, and already proves the value behind the operational concept developed by the Budapest Airport Property and Cargo team. For weeks now, the facility has been running 24/7 to accommodate cargo flights providing medical equipment for the region.
The BUD Cargo City created a community space, where the various market players – cargo handling companies, forwarders, airlines and authorities – can all work together and cooperate in one place, much more efficiently than previously. In this community, Budapest Airport’s long-term partner, cargo-partner is one of the first tenants that the airport operator was able to welcome.
With more than 130 offices in 30 countries across the globe, cargo-partner provides comprehensive, tailored solutions for its partners, covering the full spectrum of info-logistics, in the areas of transport by air, sea and road, as well as warehousing services. The company possesses special expertise in optimizing information technologies and the supply chain, and has been operating at Budapest Airport for 25 years. It is currently regarded as one of the leading logistics companies, and, by moving into the Cargo City, expands its capacities by no less than 1200 square meters of warehouse and more than 400 square meters of office space.
“The expansion of our capacities reflects our commitment to the Central and Southern European market, as well as the steadily increasing demand in this region. In recent years, Budapest Airport has been able to draw attention to itself with its ambitious development program, as an air cargo hub. Against this background, we would like to position ourselves with our diverse range of services on the constantly growing local air freight market,” said Attila Becze, cargo-partner sub-region director Hungary and Romania.
“cargo-partner has always been one of our most important air freight partners, as it has been part of the cargo community at Budapest Airport since the beginning,” said René Droese, chief development officer for Budapest Airport. He highlighted: “Our work with cargo-partner is based on excellent cooperation, teamwork and continuous, professional communication, so we were delighted when the company was among the first to indicate that they would like to join the list of tenants at the BUD Cargo City. Already in April, cargo-partner organized 9 extra charter flights at BUD, operated by Emirates and Air Atlanta Icelandic, which is quite an impressive start. Furthermore, in May, we will have weekly 2-3 charters landing at BUD under the organization of cargo-partner. I am certain that thanks to cargo-partner’s customer-oriented approach and efficient and reliable operation, going forward we can continue to achieve significant success together in air cargo.”
