LONDON, 2016-Sep-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Clubbers looking for the right vibe to fly with can chill out and listen to special British Airways’ podcasts from top Kiss FM DJ Charlie Hedges.
The 30-year-old Londoner, hosts her ‘Charlie Hedges Presents’ monthly podcast, which is now available on all long-haul British Airways flights through the airline’s High Life in-flight entertainment system.
One of the true new breed of global radio show presenters, ‘Charlie Hedges Presents’ is an hour of the very latest deep, tough and tech house sounds.
Richard D’Cruze, British Airways’ in-flight entertainment and technology manager, said: “Charlie is a world-class DJ, who plays to thousands of discerning clubbers across the world at parties like the Sundance Festival.
“So with her finely tuned energy, making her one of the most in-demand female DJs on the scene, we’re thrilled to feature her personal choice of the best music around, on board our flights.”
To complement the podcasts, Charlie has personally chosen her top pick of some of the best clubs around the world, and British Airways has suggested the best holiday packages to each destination:
Croatia – Hideout Festival
“Is Croatia the new Ibiza? Hard to say, but you can’t deny that it’s getting some incredible festivals cropping up over the summer. Hideout is actually located on Pag’s Zrce Beach, so you’ll need to make a short journey from the airport, but believe me it’s worth it. Hideout takes place over five days and nights, there are over a hundred DJs, there are boat parties, pool parties and the stages are practically on the beaches…incredible.”
Berlin – Berghain
“It’s something of a legend in the club world, and whilst it might seem a tad cliché to include it, it’s one of those that you really ought to tick off the list. Berlin is the spiritual home of techno and Berghain is the place to experience that right through from Friday until Monday (if you have that kind of stamina!). It’s set in an abandoned power plant, no phones or cameras are allowed inside, and the door policy is so strict that you might not even get in – but I guarantee that you’ll kick yourself if you don’t at least try.”
Ibiza – Ushuaia
“There’s no way I could leave Ibiza off this list, but to narrow down the vast array of world-class clubs on offer is almost impossible… Ushuaia is like no other club – it’s all open-air with a HUGE stage by the pool and it starts early afternoon and finishes at midnight, giving you more than enough time to get into Space after. In terms of lights, staging and atmosphere, this place is a tough one to beat – it hosts some of the world’s best nights and brands and as it happens, I played there earlier this month for Tinie Tempah’s ‘Disturbing Ibiza’… ;)”
Vegas – EDC Festival
“So, Vegas has a reputation for big glitzy neon lights, huge shows, and being a party city that never sleeps. That’s basically EDC in a nutshell. Yes, it’s a festival so you’ll need to time your visit to the city when it’s on, but it’s worth it. This year was its 20th anniversary and it’s become something of a behemoth in the world of festivals. On the one hand you’ve got an electronic music festival with the world’s best DJs, on the other a full-sized carnival with rides, performers and art installations. Vegas doesn’t do things on a budget, and EDC is no exception.”
Sydney – Chinese Laundry
“Despite all the debates going on surrounding Sydney’s controversial lockout laws, there’s still some amazing nights to be had in the city. On the one hand you’ve got some excellent VIP/Casino style clubs like Marquee on the harbour, but then you’ve also got places like the Chinese Laundry which cater more towards the underground. If you’re after breaks, electro, techno, bass and everything in between, then you can’t go far wrong with this three-roomed venue which has played host to some of the scene’s biggest names. Definitely one to check out if you’re in the area.”
Manchester –Warehouse Project
“It’s hard to believe that Manchester’s Warehouse Project has now been running for a decade! What started out in an old Boddington’s brewery now has a semi-permanent home under Piccadilly Railway Station and hosts a series of nights which run seasonal every year from September to New Year’s Day. Every club brand and DJ you could imagine has played there and every line-up is a who’s-who of dance music. There’s a reason why Mixmag voted this the number one club in the UK.”
Amsterdam – Gashouder
“Amsterdam has a reputation as one of Europe’s big party cities, which I always think is really cool considering how chilled it is during the day. Gashoulder encapsulates this pretty well – from the outside you’d never imagine the kind of parties that are held inside! I played here for Carl Cox’s night during ADE and the sound system is insane – it was originally built in 1902 to store gas above the building, now it houses some of the world’s finest DJs (and indoor fireworks!).”
Barcelona – Elrow
“If you’re like me and you love an after-hours club – one that starts in the day and ends the following day – then Elrow is for you. As a brand, Elrow is well known for taking its multi-coloured delights to incredible parties across the world, but there’s no way that you can miss out on it if you’re in Barcelona, Elrow’s spiritual home. It certainly goes all out with music and atmosphere – just think Ibiza in Barcelona and you’re on the right lines.”
Charlie has also become the voice of Skiddle – the UK’s busiest ticket retailer – with her ’Weekends Matter’ monthly podcast; broadcasting to an audience that combines 1.3 million members and over five million page views per month.
Earlier this year, she also released her debut record ‘Kaleidoscope’ on Armada Deep, who have just signed her for a follow-up.
As well as listening to’ Charlie Hedges Presents’, flyers with British Airways on long-haul flights also have free access to over 1,300 hours of films, top TV shows and audio programmes via their personal seatback screen. This includes the very latest Hollywood blockbusters, TV box sets and music provided by British Airways’ High Life entertainment
