(PRESS RELEASE) London, UK, 2024-Nov-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Bristol Airport has announced a new masterplan outlining its vision to accommodate growing demand for air travel in the South West and South Wales, with a target of serving up to 15 million passengers annually by 2036. The proposals, now open for public consultation, aim to expand connections to destinations including the Middle East and the US East Coast, boost the regional economy, and create over 37,000 jobs, including 1,000 new positions at the airport.
Key Developments Proposed:
CEO Dave Lees emphasized the need for responsible growth to meet increasing travel demand:
“The masterplan reflects the growing desire for air travel, especially for reconnecting with family and friends globally. We’re committed to working with the community to shape plans for sustainable growth that balances economic benefits with environmental responsibility.”
Investment in Sustainability
Bristol Airport is investing over £400 million in projects to enhance customer experience and reduce its carbon footprint, including a £64 million Public Transport Interchange under construction and initiatives to decarbonize airport operations by 2030. The airport is also collaborating with airlines to introduce quieter, more efficient aircraft, achieving a 50% reduction in noise levels.
Public Input Encouraged
The consultation, running from 25 November 2024 to 31 January 2025, invites local residents and stakeholders to provide feedback. More information, including an interactive map of the proposals, is available at Bristol Airport Future Plans.
