KINGS ISLAND, Ohio, 2013-04-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — If you grew up in the 1970’s, chances are you really had two families: your own and The Brady Bunch.
One of the grooviest sitcoms of the era, The Brady Bunch filmed one of its most popular episodes at Kings Island. The episode, called “The Cincinnati Kids,” was filmed at Kings Island August 20-24, 1973, the second year the park was open.
In the episode, which first aired November 23, 1973, Mike Brady, played by Robert Reed, takes the family with him as he presents his architectural plans for a new addition to Kings Island. The plans become inadvertently misplaced while the family is in the park and a variety of comic situations evolve while recovering the drawings.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the classic episode, three Brady Bunch stars, Barry Williams (Greg Brady), Christopher Knight (Peter Brady) and Susan Olsen (Cindy Brady), will return to Kings Island Sunday, May 19 to entertain park guests during four shows of singing, dancing and Brady Bunch anecdotes. Williams, Knight and Olsen will be available to meet fans, sign autographs and pose for photographs after each show.
“The Kings Island episode is one of my favorite episodes from the Brady Bunch, right up there with the episode shot in Hawaii and the Return of Johnny Bravo,” Williams said. “I can’t wait to see all of our friends again in Cincinnati.”
The shows will take place in the Kings Island Theater and included free with park admission. Seating is limited, on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Brady Bunch originally aired from September 26, 1969 to August 30, 1974 on the ABC network and subsequently syndicated around the world. It is the only series ever to be shown in some form on three major networks (ABC, NBC and CBS), as well as in theatrical and motion picture movies.
Kings Island opens for the 2013 season April 27.
Kings Island is owned and operated by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, a publicly traded partnership that is listed for trading on The New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “FUN.” In addition to Kings Island, Cedar Fair owns and operates ten other amusement parks, four water parks, one indoor water park, and five hotels.
