Blue Islands expands its fleet with its fifth ATR 72 aircraft

Jersey, Guernsey, 2022-Jun-18 — /Travel PR News/ — Blue Islands is pleased to announce the arrival of its latest ATR 72 aircraft, G-ISLO. The plane arrived yesterday at the airline’s home base in Jersey from East Midlands Airport, where it was fitted-out in the distinctive Blue Islands livery. The new aircraft will be “on the line” and flying passengers from today. The aircraft has 72 seats, replacing a smaller ATR 42, 46 seat aircraft, meaning that all five aircraft in the Blue Islands fleet are now ATR 72s.

Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said, “Our fifth ATR 72 aircraft demonstrates Blue Islands’ commitment to providing year-round, sustainable connectivity and socio-economic benefits for the Island. It also underpins our positive but measured approach to growth as we emerge from the difficult market conditions caused by the pandemic over the past two years.”

Blue Islands currently operates 900 flights per month, with a wide choice of daily, year-round flights on its existing regional network. This year has also seen the development of new scheduled routes from Jersey to Norwich, Dublin & Rennes for this summer. In addition, the airline is proud to be the chosen partner for tour operators flying visitors from Germany, Switzerland and The Netherlands – helping to bolster the tourism economy.

Rob added, “As we grow our network, we are also very aware of the need to balance our wider environmental impact. Our ATR aircraft fleet is powered by efficient turboprop engines producing the lowest emissions per seat in its class. In addition, our partnership with Durrell’s Rewild Carbon programme, a world leading initiative run from Jersey, enables us (by offsetting) to make all of our flights Carbon Neutral and genuinely sustainable.”
