&Beyond has once again ensured that sustainability is key in the design of its stand for Indaba 2013

2013-05-10 — /travelprnews.com/ — As a pioneer in responsible tourism and conservation, leading luxury experiential travel company &Beyond has once again ensured that sustainability is key in the design of its stand for Indaba 2013.  Following in the footsteps of last year’s stand, which won the Platinum Award in the Outdoor category, &Beyond’s creation this year is made of organic, natural materials.

&Beyond is well known for its sustainable approach and focus on conservation, which has recently seen the company awarded the global Tourism for Tomorrow Conservation Award.  As in previous years, at least 50% of its stand design for Indaba 2013 consists of recycled, reused or up-cycled materials.  Many of &Beyond’s stand components have been re-invented and re-used over the 17 years that the company has been attending Indaba, with a fresh new look applied each year.

“While we have consistently tried to keep our Indaba stand construction as sustainable as possible over the years, our biggest contribution to the preservation of the world’s resources and its wild places remains through our guests, who make all our conservation efforts possible,” says Jacky Humphries, &Beyond Chief Marketing Officer.

In order to fit in with the company’s core ethic, the walls and floors of&Beyond’s stand have been constructed of sustainable woods and materials, destined for re-use in a different application after Indaba.  The elegant company logos, done in a satin chrome finish, will find a new home at &Beyond’s Johannesburg head office as part of a larger re-branding initiative.  LED strip lights create a warm pink hue while keeping the stand as energy-efficient as possible.  As in previous years,&Beyond has kept the use of paper to a minimum and has installed four recycling bins to separate and manage all waste generated.

In keeping with its mantra of supporting local businesses and communities, &Beyond has contracted a Durban-based chef to provide catering on its stand, using organically grown ingredients in all the menus.  The mouth-watering snacks and meals will be served in bowls and plates made of sustainably grown bamboo.  Even the drinks on offer have been sourced locally, with artisanal lager from a micro-brewery catering for beer drinkers.

“By taking part in Indaba 2013, we are increasing our global reach and attracting even more guests, who help to keep our unique conservation model, based on the Care of the Land, Care of the Wildlife, Care of the People, successfully functioning,” concludes Humphries.
