BELFAST, Northern Ireland, 2020-Jun-24 — /Travel PR News/ — Eastern Airways has today (22 Jun 2020) resumed its services from Belfast City Airport to Southampton and Teesside.
Initially these flights will be daily weekday services with the frequency set to increase throughout July, August and September.
Katy Best, Commercial Director at Belfast City Airport said:
“Belfast City Airport has remained operational throughout the Covid-19 outbreak to facilitate essential travel to London Heathrow.
“The return of Eastern Airways marks additional connectivity to the North East and the South Coast of England.
“This will be welcome news to those seeking to resume business activity and of course to visit family and friends.”
Belfast City Airport continues to follow all relevant directives for airports in relation to Covid-19. Measures are in place throughout the terminal to enable social distancing for passengers and staff with signage visible throughout the airport. The airport has also deployed additional staff dedicated to terminal cleansing.
To mark the reopening of Teesside International Airport since it reduced operations due to the coronavirus pandemic, Eastern Airways has 100,000 seats on sale to and from the airport for travel until 13th September 2020.
As part of the sale, fares will start at £49.99 for flights between Belfast City Airport and Teesside International Airport booked by 6th July 2020.
Roger Hage, General Manager Commercial & Operations for Eastern Airways, said:
“In our partnership with Teesside Airport, getting the region back flying and connected throughout the UK is what we at Eastern Airways also jointly want to achieve.
“Having provided the careful reintroduction of routes, all the safety steps in the airport and on-board to support a safe flying environment and with the exciting start of London services in July, What better way to reward the loyalty in the North-East by offering a fare promotion to help make the journey even more rewarding.”
Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said:
“It’s great that our connection between Teesside and Belfast City is restarting again after being paused as it had only just taken off. This link represents a huge opportunity for both business and tourism as we slowly ease out of lockdown and start our recovery from the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have lots of families across Teesside, Darlington and Hartlepool that have connections to the city and beyond, who can once again benefit from this route.”
New health and safety measures have also been put in place at Teesside International Airport, with six simple steps including hand sanitisation points and face masks now in operation.
