Bear Grylls and Alesha Dixon partner with British Airways to support Sport Relief this year

LONDON, 2016-Mar-14 — /Travel PR News/ — Bear Grylls shares his endurance tips with British Airways’ staff embarking on a mile walk in heels for Sport Relief. The fundraisers were waved off by entertainer Alesha Dixon. The airline has raised £2 million for Sport Relief this year, and more than £12 million for Comic Relief since its Flying Start partnership launched in 2010. Sport Relief weekend takes place 18-20 March.

Intrepid adventurer Bear Grylls and TV personality Alesha Dixon are partnering with British Airways to support Sport Relief this year, as the airline marks raising over £2 million for the fundraising event.

Known for his survival techniques, Bear met some of British Airways’ top fundraisers to share ‘endurance tips’ ahead of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games, taking Friday March 18 – Sunday March 20. The crew then took on the challenge of walking a mile in heels on the runway at Heathrow, waved off by entertainer Alesha Dixon.

Alesha Dixon, said: “A big congratulations to British Airways’ fundraisers, not just for walking a mile on the runway for Sport Relief, but for doing it in high heels too – that’s no easy feat. It was a pleasure to come down to Heathrow and meet such an inspiring team.”

During his visit to Heathrow Terminal 5 Bear also filmed his top tips for an exclusive video for the airline, which can be viewed at youtube.com/flybritishairways. It includes light-hearted advice on how to stay hydrated during exercise, what to do if you stumble across wild stags (both the animal and the bachelor party), and which shoes are best if you’re taking on a mile challenge in heels!

Bear Grylls, said; “The great thing about Sport Relief is that it makes an adventurer of us all, and whether we walk, run, swim or cycle, every step, smile and penny raised makes a difference. Meeting British Airways’ top fundraisers and learning how its Flying Start partnership with Comic Relief has helped transform the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable children around the world has been truly inspiring. Heroes one and all!”
