Bath Christmas Market wins Gold award for Tourism Event/Festival of the Year at the South West England Tourism Excellence Awards

Bath Christmas Market was the recipient of the Gold award for Tourism Event/Festival of the Year at yesterday evening’s South West England Tourism Excellence Awards.

Bath, UK, 2020-Feb-11 — /Travel PR News/ — The prestigious ceremony, held at Exeter Cathedral, celebrated the very best of the South West, with 107 different awards presented following a rigorous judging process in which a record 773 entries were considered.

Bath Christmas Market, which will be celebrating its 20th year in 2020, sees over 150 twinkling chalets spread out around Bath’s picturesque Georgian streets. The very best local makers and designers from the South West are carefully selected to showcase their unique, high-quality gifts.

Over 400,000 people attended the event in 2018, with a direct spend at the Market of over £7 million and an associated spend in the Market and across the city of over £30 million. In 2018, the event saw the biggest increase in staying visitors in its history, with a 4% increase in stays of one night or more in the city versus in 2017.

Bath Christmas Market’s South West England Tourism Excellence Award adds another accolade to the event’s list of recent awards, including Gold at the Bristol Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards 2019/20 and two wins at the Bath Business Improvement District’s 2019 Business Awards, the Prosperous Award, for being an initiative that has led to a significant improvement in business results or has helped others to achieve success, and the 2019 Bath BID Awards Champion accolade.
