Muharraq, Bahrain, 2013-12-09 — /travelprnews.com/ — Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), the entity responsible for operating Bahrain International Airport (BIA), has won the Bahrain eContent Award 2013 in the e-Culture & Tourism category for the re-launched website www.bahrainairport.com.
Manager of Corporate Communications at BAC, Mr. Hussain Rasool, received the award on behalf of the company during the award ceremony held in Radisson Blue Hotel.
Developed in partnership with 4Spots an award winning interactive agency, the new website allows users to roam between BAC corporate portal and BIA traveler’s portal. It provides relevant information and services to the various audience groups that are set to enhance the experience provided to travelers and their families who are eager to receive their beloved ones. Such services include flight finder, flight notification via twitter or emails, and the airport interactive map.
“The win of the renowned accolade is a testament of our commitment towards service excellence and passengers comfort. The creativity incorporated has granted the website great popularity. Since its’ soft launch in April 2013, the website receives about 40,000 visitors a month while it is still on the soft launch phase.” Mr. Rasool added.
It also received four internationally renowned awards this year, and they are: Silver 2013 W³ Awards, Web Marketing Association’s (WMA) Award for Standard of Excellence in the Transportation Sector, Silver Davey Awards 2013 and Bronze Summit Creative Award 2013 for Travel/Tourism/Nature Website category.

BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing BIA and increasing the airport’s contribution to the local economy in line with Vision 2030. This is set to improve BIA capabilities; and to cater for the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders.
