Muharraq, Bahrain, 2015-4-28 — /Travel PR News/ — In line with its continuous efforts to further enhance its relationship with key partners and customers, Bahrain Airport Company (BAC) – the managing body of Bahrain International Airport (BIA) – hosted an appreciation dinner for travel agents and airline country managers from the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia including airline sales agents and key airport partners from BIA, at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel.
The event was attended by senior management from BAC, as well as key BIA partners and stakeholders. The guests were welcomed by Chief Commercial Officer of Bahrain Airport Company, Mr. Mohamed Khalil who praised their continuous efforts in promoting BIA as a destination hub for residents in the Eastern Province, further boosting traffic flow as a result.
Mr. Khalil also confirmed that the airport witnessed a significant jump in passenger numbers compared to last year and BAC is confident that with the on-going support of BIA’s esteemed partners they will be able to exceed their future targets.
“The BAC team has been concentrating its efforts on managing BIA as a friendly and efficient airport. 2014 was a significant year for BIA in this regard marking a 10% surge in passenger numbers compared to 2013; this was a tremendous achievement for BIA and by reflection BAC. Our aim is to further grow this number and we are confident that with your help, we will be successful in not only reaching our targets but surpassing them”, stated Mr. Khalil.
Mr. Khalil also reiterated the Kingdom’s leading role in developing the regional aviation industry and touched on future plans to strengthen BIA’s competitive advantage and further attract new entrants whilst building the airport’s potential for increased aeronautical and non- aeronautical activity.
“Today, our airport continues to play a key role in the fast-paced aviation sector and remains very attractive for global commercial and cargo airlines keen to benefit from BIA’s strong connectivity network, efficient airside operations and unique marketing mix. Our plans to modernize and upgrade BIA will without doubt improve the passenger travel experience and offer airline partners the additional support they require whilst optimizing the opportunities available for increased revenue generation. We have no doubt that our future vision will solidify BIA’s competitiveness as a prominent hub in the region and your support is invaluable in realizing our goals”, concluded Mr. Khalil.
BAC is the authority responsible for enhancing BIA and increasing the airport’s contribution to the local economy in line with Bahrain’s Economic Vision. In its operational role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s operations, infrastructure and services. This is set to improve BIA’s capabilities and cater to the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of stakeholders.
