Austrian and Tyrolean concentrate energies further

• Tyrolean administration to be concentrated at Vienna hub
• Aircraft maintenance and Call Center to remain at Innsbruck location

2013-03-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Austrian Airlines Group is taking another step in its restructuring programme, as all its administrative duties are concentrated in Vienna in future. Around 100 of the 400 jobs of Tyrolean Airways in Innsbruck will be affected by the measure. The employees affected should remain with Tyrolean Airways, however. The employees in question will be made an offer enabling them to relocate to Vienna.

Klaus Froese, Managing Director of Tyrolean Airways, said the following: “Most of the Tyrolean’s employees now work in the air or in Vienna. We have to concentrate our scarce administrative resources at our Vienna hub if we are to become even more effective.”

The Tyrolean’s Crew and Traffic Management will be concentrated in Vienna for instance. The goal of the new unit is to remove the remaining twin-tracking within the Austrian Airlines Group, and to organise flight administration processes to be more efficient, at a single location.

Jaan Albrecht, CEO of Austrian Airlines and of the Supervisory Board of Tyrolean, said this: “The decision by the Tyrolean management is both courageous and painful at once. After just a few weeks of intense analysis, Klaus Froese has extended the original concept. He and his team have the full support of the Executive Board of Austrian Airlines.”

The process of merging administration at a single location should be finalised within a year. A social plan is being set up for employees who are unable or unwilling to move to Vienna. Details of this plan are being worked out with works councils.

The Austrian Airlines Group employed 6,236 people as at 30 December 2012, 400 of whom were located in Innsbruck.
