2012-07-19 — /travelprnews.com/ — In the period from January to June 2012, the number of passengers carried rose by 6,7 percent compared to previous year’s figure: 5,440,600 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines. The load factor rose by 3.3 percentage points to 74 percent. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) rose by 1.6 percent. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 6.3 percent.
Austrian Airlines CCO Karsten Benz: „We are making progress with our company reform program: Although we are operating fewer aircraft, we were able to carry more passengers.”
In June 2012, Austrian Airlines carried 1,066,000 passengers, which is 2.2 percent more than in June last year. The average passenger load factor, at 78.7 percent, was 4 percentage points over the figure for the same month last year. The capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASK) fell by 4.2 percent, caused by the sale of four mid range aircraft. The figure for revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) rose by 1 percent.
Europe
In June 2012, 841,100 passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This is 3.8 percent more passengers than last year. The load factor grew by 3.1 percentage points to 76.7 percent. Austrian Airlines increased the ASK by 0.1 percent, the RPK rose by 4.3 percent.
In the period from January to June 2012, about 4,4 million passengers flew with Austrian Airlines within Europe. This is 8 percent more than last year. The load factor rose by 2.6 percentage points to 71.1 percent. The figure for ASK rose by 4 percent, and the one for RPK by 8.1 percent.
Intercontinental
In June 2012, the number of passengers carried on intercontinental flights rose slightly by 0.3 percent to 145,900. The load factor, which is 81.5 percent, was 5.6 percentage points over the figure of the previous year. Austrian Airlines reduced its ASK by 6.9 percent. The figure for RPK remained constant.
Austrian Airlines carried 797,900 passengers in the period from January to June 2012, or 2.8 percent more than last year despite the difficult market environment (crisis in the Middle East). The load factor rose by 4.2 percentage points to 76.6 percent. Austrian Airlines reduced its ASK by 0.4 percent. The figure for RPK rose by 5.4 percent.
Charter
In June 2012, passenger volume stood at 79,100 which is 9.4 percent less than previous year. The load factor rose by 0.2 percentage points to 74 percent. Austrian Airlines reduced the ASK by 9.4 percent. The figure for RPK fell by 9.1 percent.
In the period from January to June 2012, Austrian Airlines carried 238,800 passengers in the Charter segment. This figure is 2.4 percent less than last year. The load factor rose by 0.7 percentage points to 72.3 percent. The figure for ASK rose by 0.1 percent, while the one for RPK rose by 1.1 percent.
