“We are pleased to once again be in a position this year to train the aircraft technicians and office clerks of tomorrow. In our training program the apprentices learn what matters in the maintenance of state-of-the-art aircraft and working for an international airline”, explains Nathalie Rau, Head of Human Resources at Austrian Airlines. “In fact, Austrian Airlines is one of the few companies in Austria in which the training to be an aircraft technician can be completed at the company’s own training workshop. This strengthens the Vienna Airport flight hub.”

The requirements of prospective candidates:
• Completion of mandatory schooling (first ability group in the main subjects and at least a mark of “C” in them, no third ability group)
• A cheerful disposition
• High level of commitment and sense of responsibility
• Interest in aviation

The training program for aircraft technicians lasts 3.5 years, whereas the comparable training as office clerks takes three years. The program includes practical on-the-job training, a theoretical education in the vocational school as well as internal and external training seminars on specialized topics, for example technical English. At the present time, the gross remuneration paid to trainees amounts to € 514.84 per month.
