Augustin Teboul announced winner of the 2012 Dorchester Collection

Fashion Prize

Paris,2012-10-18 — /travelprnews.com/ — Augustin Teboul is the winner of the 2012 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize.  The award was bestowed to the designer last night at Dorchester Collection’s Hôtel Plaza Athénée, after a catwalk show featuring the five shortlisted designers of the prize.  Annelie Augustin and Odély Teboul were presented with €30,000 from Dorchester Collection’s chief executive officer Christopher Cowdray, along with an engraved Baccarat crystal trophy and a stay at a Dorchester Collection property in either Paris or Milan during spring Fashion Week 2013.

The esteemed judges of the 2012 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize included Kenzo Takada, founder of Kenzo; Bruno Frisoni, artistic director for luxury shoe designer Roger Vivier; Lorenz Baumer, designer of Louis Vuitton jewellery; Alexandra Golovanoff, French journalist and TV host; Nathalie Rykiel, CEO of Sonia Rykiel; Chantal Thomass, CEO of Chantal Thomass lingerie; Harumi Klossowska de Rola, jewellery designer and daughter of painter Balthus; Jean-Jacques Picart, fashion and luxury consultant; and Elizabeth Saltzman, the contributing editor to Vanity Fair.

The grand final was an opportunity for the shortlisted designers – Augustin Teboul, Calla, IRM Design, Les Garçons Paris and Quentin Veron – to present their designs at a catwalk show to the assembled audience of judges and international VIP guests and media. After a deliberation period, the judges agreed that the collection displayed by Augustin Teboul best evoked the spirit of individuality, luxury, style and craftsmanship, which characterises Dorchester Collection’s iconic hotels. The designs also demonstrated critical distinction and the potential for future commercial success.

Violette Paulus De Chatelet, Dior’s make-up designer, created the make-up look for the models at the final. This is a particularly key partnership for Dorchester Collection given the hotel’s long-standing historical association with the brand, including the presence of the acclaimed Dior Institut, specialising in luxury treatments.

“Through the Fashion Prize, Dorchester Collection aims to provide a strong foundation for upcoming designers on which to build their brand and we’re inspired by the creativity coming to the fore. Dorchester Collection has an illustrious association with fashion and in launching its Fashion Prize became the first luxury hotel company to bestow such a prestigious award. We are delighted to be promoting and supporting young talent and are confident that Augustin Teboul will continue to have a thriving career, just as previous winners Thomas Tait and Anndra Neen have done.  We look forward to following their success,” said Christopher Cowdray, Dorchester Collection’s chief executive officer.

“It’s been an honour to be on the judging panel of the 2012 Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize and to work alongside such esteemed figures in the fashion industry. It was wonderful to meet new talent and help them,” said Lorenz Baumer, one of the judges.

It’s absolutely amazing, we’re overwhelmed by the result, we were so nervous to present in front of such a prestigious panel of judges whom we’ve always admired. We still can’t believe it,” said Augustin Teboul, this year’s winner.

After the winner’s announcement, VIP guests, designers and models toasted the winner with Laurent Perrier champagne at a drinks reception in the hotel’s elegant inner courtyard, the famed Cour Jardin.
