Brussels, Belgium, 2023-Oct-25 — /Travel PR News/ — On parking lot P30 at Brussels Airport, a staff car park opposite the drop-off area, works have started for a new 8-storey parking building. By the end of 2025, this building will provide a total of 2,700 parking spaces for airport staff and car rental services. A covered passageway will connect the new car park with the airport terminal.
This month, the preparatory works for the construction of a new multi-storey car park at Brussels Airport have started. The site of the former open air P30 staff car park will see the erection of an 8-storey building with a total floor area of 90,000 m² and 2,700 parking spaces. A covered passageway will provide a smooth connection to the airport terminal.
This building will provide additional parking for airport staff but will also accommodate car rental services for passengers. Moving the car rental services to the new building will make more parking spaces available in the public car parks for passengers coming in by car.
Circularity and EV charging points
The preparatory work for this new parking building will continue until the end of the year. These include breaking up asphalt, concrete, foundations, drainage, cables, kerb stones, and lamp posts. The waste materials are carried off to be reused. The concrete e.g., will be broken down at the crushing plant in the cargo zone at the airport and used as a filling material at the construction site afterwards.
As the existing sewer system needs to be moved over a length of 30 metres, outbound traffic to the A201 will have to use 2 narrowed lanes for two weeks in November.
By mid-December, the preparatory works should be completed, after which the actual construction work can begin. The new parking building, which will also provide a total of 617 EV charging points, will be delivered by the end of 2025.
