Applications invited for “Dragonair Aviation Certificate Programme” as intake expands for 2013

HONG KONG, 2012-11-22 — /travelprnews.com/ — Applications for the 2013 Dragonair Aviation Certificate Programme, a key initiative under the Dragonair Youth Aviation Academy, are now being invited. The nine-month educational initiative, organised by Dragonair in conjunction with the Hong Kong Air Cadet Corps, is designed to educate, motivate and inspire young people aged 18 to 25 who are interested in pursuing an aviation-related career.

The Dragonair Aviation Certificate Programme offers young people in Hong Kong an invaluable opportunity to learn about all aspects of aviation.  In addition to comprehensive training and visits to key aviation facilities at Hong Kong International Airport, each participant will be mentored by a Dragonair pilot who will offer them guidance and help to generate a deeper interest in working in the aviation field.

Since its launch in 2005, the programme has generated an enthusiastic response from young people in Hong Kong. The intake for the 2013 programme will increase from 24 to 30 participants to enable more people to benefit from this unique opportunity.

Over the past eight years, the programme has had a direct and positive impact in terms of nurturing future talent for the aviation industry in Hong Kong.  Among those who graduated between 2006 and 2011, more than 40% have already embarked on careers in various areas of the aviation industry including aircraft engineering, air traffic control, ground handling and, of course, as pilots for Dragonair and its sister airline, Cathay Pacific.

Young people who are interested to explore the exciting world of aviation should not miss this valuable learning opportunity. Programme details and application procedures can be found on the programme website, www.dragonair.com/aviationacademy. Applications for the 2013 programme can be submitted online on or before 16 December 2012.
