ANA becomes first Asian airline to adopt EcoVadis system for responsible procurement and supply chain transparency
(NEWS) TOKYO, 2025-Sep-2 — /Travel PR News/ — All Nippon Airways (ANA) has become the first airline in Asia to adopt the services of EcoVadis, the global leader in sustainability ratings, in a move to enhance its environmental, social and governance (ESG) framework. The Tokyo-based airline will use EcoVadis’ Sustainability Intelligence Suite to evaluate suppliers, address ESG risks, and promote more sustainable procurement practices across its international operations.
By embedding comprehensive ESG risk assessments into its supply chain management, ANA aims to improve transparency, strengthen accountability, and align its operations with global sustainability standards. ANA executives described the partnership as a major step toward advancing responsible procurement and maintaining stakeholder trust, while EcoVadis leaders highlighted their commitment to helping ANA create a more resilient and sustainable supply network.
The move by ANA also reflects a broader momentum within the aviation sector, where companies are making significant investments to accelerate sustainability. Swissport, for example, has pledged over €1.5 billion in the next five years to transition its ground-support fleet to fully electric vehicles and expand renewable energy use across its operations worldwide. With 25% of its 14,500 ground service equipment units already electric and major hubs in Europe set to surpass 55% electrification by the end of 2025, Swissport has become a benchmark for green transformation in aviation services. Its commitment, further reinforced by EcoVadis Platinum status, underscores the industry-wide shift toward decarbonisation, renewable energy adoption, and sustainable supply chain practices—an ambition ANA is now embedding in its procurement framework through its partnership with EcoVadis.
