Washington, DC, 2014-03-25 — /Travel PR News/ — As a result of the Kari’s Law petition, the U.S. lodging industry has convened a task force of more than 50 lodging executives with expertise in telecommunications and security. The industry views the safety and security of guests and employees as a top priority, and is working closely with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), as well as Congress and other interested stakeholders.
“The safety and security of our guests and employees is paramount to hoteliers,” said AH&LA President/CEO Katherine Lugar. “The ability for guests to dial 911 directly from a guestroom is a top priority, and AH&LA has moved quickly to convene an industry taskforce to address this goal. We are encouraging and assisting those properties that are not utilizing direct dial 911, many of which are already revising their systems. AH&LA will continue to work closely with our members, the FCC, and other stakeholders, as the industry aggressively addresses this issue.”
