DIRTT Chicago Green Learning Center Soiree
Come relax and enjoy drinks and organic, locally-sourced appetizers at DIRTT (Doing it Right This Time) Green Learning Center. DIRTT is a modular interior construction company with technology and sustainability at the core of all they create. They also happen to be in a fantastic space on the Chicago River with beautiful views of the surrounding city from their outdoor penthouse deck. Attendees will have an opportunity to take a tour of the Learning Center to learn more about sustainable “smart construction” with a focus on technology and “future proofing” interior spaces so they can last a lifetime. O’Hare International Airport Airfield Tour
Get a close-up view of the Chicago Department of Aviation’s (CDA) sustainability initiatives with a tour of O’Hare International Airport. The tour will take place on Thursday, Nov 14. Airports Going Green attendees will have the opportunity to tour areas a variety of sustainability initiatives including the grazing herd (weather permitting), snow equipment, construction of the South Air Traffic Control Tower, and the FedEx green roof.
O’Hare Urban Garden Reception
Immediately following the O’Hare International Airport Airfield Tour will be a tour and reception O’Hare’s indoor aeroponic urban garden. The reception will showcase offerings from O’Hare restaurants that incorporate fresh produce from the garden, courtesy of HMS Host.
The Airports Going Green Conference is the aviation industry’s leading sustainability forum, bringing together sustainability leaders, experts, and innovators from around the world. The 2013 Conference will include discussions on climate change adaptation; will cover the FAA’s sustainability guidance and related initiatives; explore airport business sustainability partnerships; highlight international sustainability perspectives; discuss sustainable water management; discuss tools for evaluating outcomes of sustainability programs; and present case studies and Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) projects to illustrate sustainability successes in the industry. Many conference sessions will offer Continuing Education Credits to help satisfy LEED continuing education requirements.
