Airports Company South Africa congratulated Lucas Sithole in his historic win at the US Open grand slam

Johannesburg, 2013-09-12 — /travelprnews.com/ — Airports Company South Africa would like to congratulate Lucas Sithole in his historic win at the US Open grand slam on Sunday, 8 September 2013.   Airports Company South Africa has for the past nine years identified Wheelchair Tennis South Africa as its flagship Corporate Social Investment project with positive and enigmatic results all round.

“Sithole’s recent feat at the US Open is therefore a great accomplishment and is a sign of persistence, patience and endurance.  Furthermore, having beaten the best player in the world four times in one calendar year is not an easy feat and thus shows the strong will of beneficiaries from our programmes to overcome adversity and look beyond their disabilities,” said Airports Company South Africa Managing Director, Bongani Maseko.

“Airports Company South Africa congratulates Lucas on an inspiring win. The company is especially proud to see how its partnership with Wheelchair Tennis South Africa has developed and grown talent over the nine-year period since it started sponsoring the sport. Wheelchair Tennis South Africa is developing world-class players and has put South Africa on the global map of wheelchair sporting talent,” added Mr Maseko.

Sithole has shown that he is a force to be reckoned with before the US Open victory with victories in an ITF 1 in Korea, South Africa and a Super Series victory at the British Open.  It therefore is an important victory for South Africa, Africa and people with disabilities all over since this will act as a model of triumph over adversity.

Airports Company South Africa welcomed Sithole at O.R. Tambo International Airport today, together with the Deputy Minister of Woman, Children and Persons with a Disability, Ms Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, the public and the media.
