The most common options chosen by airberlin passengers are seat reservations, followed by additional baggage and on-board purchases. A dynamic and differentiated pricing system ensures that prices adapt to the demand.
airberlin is the only airline in Europe that lets passengers bid for an empty neighbouring seat: passengers with a valid economy ticket can bid up to 72 hours before departure, with bidders notified 12 hours before departure whether they were successful.
Another USP of Germany’s second largest airline is also a year’s subscription for paid extras: the topbonus Service Card. Service Card holders pay 119 euros annually to enjoy countless additional services free of charge or at reduced rates: for example, they can take at least one additional piece of baggage up to 23kg (depending on the tariff category) and bring sports baggage, or save up to 15 euros per flight segment on XL seat bookings.
