airberlin now operates two weekly flights to Reykjavík, Iceland even in the winter

BERLIN, 2015-5-28 — /Travel PR News/ — Iceland in the winter? “Yes!” says airberlin and is now offering for the first time two weekly flights to Reykjavík also in the winter. The Berliners are thus the first German airline with year-round flights to Iceland. From November to April airberlin flies from Berlin-Tegel nonstop on Thursdays and Sundays to the island just below the Arctic Circle. Thanks to the mild climate provided by the warm Gulf Stream and the extensive auroral activity, winter travel to Iceland is not only for adventurers.

In the summer, airberlin already has 16 weekly nonstop flights from Berlin, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Munich and Vienna to Reykjavík and is also expanding this offering. Compared to last year, the flights are available over an extended period from early May until the end of October, allowing airberlin to offer approximately 50 per cent more capacity overall. “Iceland is growing, and we saw that straight away. Now we are the first German airline to fly to Iceland in the winter. Of course, we are pleased about that!” said Stefan Pichler, CEO of airberlin.

Attractive feeder flights to Berlin are available during the winter season from numerous airports in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, e.g. from Dusseldorf, Cologne, Munich, Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Vienna and Zurich.
