BERLIN, Germany, 2016-Apr-19 — /Travel PR News/ — In time for the start of the summer timetable, airberlin has revised its onboard menu to offer new refreshments in co-operation with new premium partners such as Häagen-Dazs and Berlin-based brewery start-up BRLO.
The superior ice cream from Häagen-Dazs is now available in vanilla and Belgian chocolate flavours on airberlin flights. Both varieties have been test winners at the Stiftung Warentest consumer organisation, having impressed the ice cream testers with their fresh ingredients, powerful flavour and creamy-smooth consistency. The 100g cups, in the classic red Häagen-Dazs design, are available for 3 euros on selected short and medium-haul flights.
Beer lovers can now also enjoy BRLO craft beer on airberlin flights. The fruity hops aroma of Pale Ale arises because the hops are added not only during the brewing process, but also during subsequent storage of the beer. BRLO is the old-Slavic root of the name Berlin, making it a perfect fit for the capital airline. BRLO has created a can especially for airberlin, which can only be bought on board.
In addition, airberlin offers a wide selection of new snacks, daily-fresh sandwiches and hot gourmet menus from Sylt restaurant, Sansibar. On flights of more than 90 minutes, a vegetarian lasagne and spicy chicken curry with mashed potatoes are now available, in addition to the cult airberlin Currywurst sausage. Naturally, the popular cheeseburger remains a fixture on the new menu. In the first 100 days after its launch, some 6,000 cheeseburgers have been sold, and the dish is ordered most often on flights from Berlin. All dishes can be ordered in advance up to 24 hours before departure. Also new on the pre-selection list is a vegetarian sweet potato curry.
Although the popular chocolate heart made of the finest Lindt milk chocolate is not on the menu, it will of course continue to be handed to passengers as they disembark. In the past year, Germany’s second largest airline has handed 15 million Lindt hearts to passengers. That’s 300 tons of chocolate– almost the unladen weight of eight A320 aircraft.
