2013-03-27 — /travelprnews.com/ — As part of its comfort initiative, airberlin has opened an Exclusive Waiting Area for frequent flyers and Business Class travellers in Hamburg, following similar moves in Berlin, Dusseldorf, Cologne-Bonn and Munich. The airline which operates on a global scale is constantly investing in providing an even better service for its guests. In terms of passenger volume, Hamburg is the fourth-largest airport for airberlin in Germany. “In 2012, we had over 3.1 million flight guests, making us the second-largest carrier in Hamburg. By providing this Exclusive Waiting Area we hope to now make the journey even more pleasant for our guests in Hamburg,” said airberlin CCO Paul Gregorowitsch on the occasion of the inauguration of the Exclusive Waiting Area.
Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport, stressed the airline‘s importance for the airport: “airberlin is one of our largest and most important clients. We welcome the fact that airberlin is investing in Hamburg and showing a clear commitment to the airport”
Members of the topbonus frequent flyer program who hold a status card, or airberlin flight guests with a ticket booked in the FlyFlex fare category or with a Business Class ticket for their connecting flight, can use the Priority desk at the airport to save time when checking in. They can also use the Security Fast Lane to get through the security checks more quickly and then spend the time waiting for their departure in the Exclusive Waiting Area in the Skywalk above Gate 08. Here, flight guests are offered newspapers and magazines, as well as hot and cold beverages, and can watch the latest news programmes, all free of charge; 49 comfortable leather armchairs manufactured by Walter Knoll provide an invitation to relax while they are waiting. There are power sockets available to charge and connect electronic devices. The Exclusive Waiting Area has a departure information board to allow guests to check their departure times whenever they wish. Further Exclusive Waiting Areas will gradually be made available at other airports, the next being planned for Vienna Airport.
