AirAsia Strengthens Presence in China with New Routes from Penang and Kota Kinabalu

(IN SHORT) AirAsia is expanding its operations in China by launching two new routes: Penang-Shenzhen and Kota Kinabalu-Shantou, solidifying its position as the largest foreign low-cost carrier in the region. The Penang to Shenzhen route will begin on 28 October 2024 with four weekly flights, while the Kota Kinabalu to Shantou route will commence on 16 November 2024 with three weekly flights. To celebrate the launch, AirAsia is offering promotional fares starting from RM329 and RM299 one-way, respectively, available for booking until 8 September 2024. Malaysians can enjoy visa-free entry to China for tourist visits of up to 15 days until the end of 2025.

(PRESS RELEASE) Sepang, Malaysia, 2024-Aug-28 — /Travel PR News/ — AirAsia is set to expand its footprint in China with the launch of two new routes: Penang to Shenzhen and Kota Kinabalu to Shantou, beginning later this year. This move increases AirAsia’s China routes to a total of 33, reaffirming its status as the largest foreign low-cost carrier in the region.

Starting 28 October 2024, AirAsia Malaysia (AK) will offer four weekly flights between Penang and Shenzhen. The Kota Kinabalu to Shantou route will commence on 16 November 2024 with three weekly flights.

To mark the launch of these new routes, AirAsia is offering special promotional fares. Passengers can book flights from Penang to Shenzhen starting at RM329 one-way and from Kota Kinabalu to Shantou starting at RM299 one-way. These promotional fares are available for booking on the AirAsia MOVE app and airasia.com until 8 September 2024, for travel between the route launch dates and 29 March 2025.

Additionally, Malaysian travelers can enjoy visa-free entry to China for tourist visits up to 15 days until the end of 2025.

Both Shenzhen and Shantou offer unique attractions for travelers, from the towering skyline of Shenzhen to the serene beauty of Nan’ao Island in Shantou. These new routes not only enhance connectivity but also provide more travel options for leisure and business travelers alike.
