2012-11-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — Aer Lingus introduces its new service from George Best Belfast City Airport to Palma, Majorca
Sun lovers will soon be able to sample the delights of Majorca’s capital city with the coming on line of the latest direct European route from Aer Lingus.
From 2nd April next year Aer Lingus will operate twice a week flights from George Best Belfast City Airport to Palma, Majorca every Tuesday and Saturday.
Valerie Abbott, Commercial Director of Aer Lingus in Northern Ireland said: “We are delighted to announce the addition of our new route to Palma to our 2013 Summer Schedule so early into the launch of our new base at Belfast City Airport.
“Cosmopolitan Palma is the capital city of Majorca in the Balearic Islands and is the perfect destination for a beach holiday. The city is steeped in history and overflowing with little boutiques and restaurants, making it an ideal city break option.
“With the flight duration just less than two and a half hours, it’s the perfect family holiday destination.
Aer Lingus will also re-launch daily flights to Malaga and Faro from 31st March.
“In addition to our new European route we are also increasing frequency to Gatwick from three to four times daily (excluding Saturdays). This brings to 48 the number of weekly flights from Belfast to London Heathrow and Gatwick.
“We have been overwhelmed by positive feedback since our move to Belfast City Airport from our customers and the trade alike.
“Being voted ‘Best Airline ex. Belfast to Europe’, for the third year in a row, at the recent Northern Ireland Travel and Tourism Awards was a huge vote of confidence in our development strategy.
“Obviously we will continue to offer an award winning service. The launch of our new route is a sign of our continued commitment to the market and our customers.”
Ms Abbott added: “We are committed to growing our business in Northern Ireland and will continue to explore further opportunities for the expansion of our network from George Best Belfast City Airport.”
Flights will go on sale on Thursday 22 November 2012 and fares start from as little as £45.99 one-way to Palma. For more information on fares and schedules visit aerlingus.com
