Accor’s MGallery expands into the French Alps with new boutique hotel blending alpine tradition and responsible design
(NEWS) PARIS, 2025-Aug-27 — /Travel PR News/ — Accor’s luxury boutique brand MGallery has unveiled plans for its first mountain retreat, announcing the opening of a new hotel in the French Alps’ Valmorel ski resort in 2027. This marks a significant milestone for MGallery, which until now has established itself in coastal destinations, city centers, and heritage sites, and now extends its distinctive charm to the alpine landscape. Positioned as a sanctuary between pine forests and ski slopes, the property promises an immersive blend of authenticity, sustainability, and refined hospitality.
The project is being developed in partnership with CLR Hotels, a subsidiary of the CGR Group, which has extensive experience in cinema, dining, wellness, and hospitality. CLR and MGallery have previously collaborated on La Grande Terrasse Hôtel & Spa La Rochelle – MGallery Collection, and the new venture further deepens this successful partnership. Maud Bailly, CEO of Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery & Emblems, emphasized that the Valmorel project encapsulates MGallery’s mission of curating unique places with soul, meaning, and emotion, while also showcasing a responsible approach to luxury in harmony with nature.
Architectural responsibilities have been entrusted to Bertrand Pourrier and ABP Architectes, a firm renowned for contemporary and sustainable projects across hospitality and cultural sectors. The design will meet RE2020 standards and target certifications such as BREEAM, with a focus on bio-sourced and locally sourced materials. The hotel will feature 82 rooms, nearly a third of which will be suites, each offering sweeping views of the valley and direct access to ski slopes. Inside, the design will draw on Savoyard traditions, blending sculpted wood, stone, and tartan with a modern, elegant touch.
Guests will enjoy a wide range of facilities, including a fine dining restaurant, a terrace-equipped main restaurant, a speakeasy bar, a 480-square-meter spa with indoor and outdoor pools, a ski and snowboard room, a private screening space, and a relaxation lounge for après-ski moments. Alongside these guest amenities, the property will include 43 staff housing units with 80 beds and an onsite restaurant, ensuring integration with and support for the local workforce.
Sustainability and community integration are at the heart of the project, with commitments to energy efficiency, harmonious landscaping, promotion of regional products, and strong partnerships with local artisans. For Valmorel, this development positions the resort as an emerging destination for travelers seeking meaningful experiences in unspoiled natural environments.
MGallery currently operates over 120 boutique hotels worldwide, with 37 in France and six more under development. The new Valmorel property reflects the brand’s strategy of selective growth and reaffirms its ambition to broaden the expressions of luxury hospitality by creating singular stays rooted in place, culture, and environment.
