Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, 2017-Feb-20 — /Travel PR News/ — Abu Dhabi Airports’ executive management hosted a team from Tawazun Safety, Security and Disaster Management City, “Jaheziya”, for a site tour to showcase the Midfield Terminal Fire Station. Jaheziya is a leading company that provides training services in the fields of safety, security, and firefighting.
The group was shown around the 4100 square meter facility which will house the teams who will be first on the scene for any emergency situation at the airport once the Midfield Terminal Building (MTB) is up and running. The central location of the fire station, between the airport’s two runways will enable it to provide speedy response and coverage to all future terminal buildings.
Abdul Majeed Al Khoori, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said: “It was a great pleasure to showcase this new facility to the team from Jaheziya, as it reinforces our efforts to strengthen coordination with our strategic partners within the industry.”
He added: “The new fire station is a key facility for the expansion plans of the Capital’s airport and it has been designed in line with optimum safety and security standards, to handle dynamic emergency situations and potential hazards that could occur in an airport and its surrounding environment. As always, we have placed the safety and security of our passengers, employees and service providers, as a priority, when designing this world-class fire station.”
The impressive facility has been developed in collaboration with all relevant bodies and the construction and operational plans for the new fire station are fully compliant with the regulations and requirements of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defense General Directorate and the General Civil Aviation Authority. It will be equipped with five response vehicles, and 20 firefighters.
Currently, Abu Dhabi International Airport includes four fully manned fire stations, 24/7, to respond to any fires or incidents on the runways or at the terminal buildings, in compliance with regulatory guidance from the General Civil Aviation Authority and the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO).
The Jaheziya team was also taken on a walk around the Midfield Terminal Building construction site to witness the progress made to date.
