Absolute Combustion International will design, build and test a new, 35 per cent more efficient heater for EIA’s passenger boarding gates
Edmonton, AB, 2017-Aug-03 — /Travel PR News/ — Absolute Combustion International (ACI) has become a full member of Alberta Aerospace and Technology Center (AATC) located at Edmonton International Airport (EIA). ACI will be continuing the research and development of their combustion technology, to identify and create new and innovative solutions for the aerospace industry. Their goal is to create devices that will allow airports to cut emissions, decrease maintenance and increase the safety of their heating equipment. AATC offers ACI an incredible opportunity to gain industry partnerships and market their aerospace innovations both locally and internationally.
“ACI decided to move our operations over to EIA and join AATC after we had the opportunity to meet and travel to Asia with AATC members. This all came about due to the efforts of the Alberta Economic Development and Trade office. Once EIA and Canadian North Airlines saw our technology, they thought it would be a perfect fit in the aerospace industry, specifically as an aircraft boarding gate heater. The opportunity to collaborate on our latest product design with EIA and Canadian North Airlines was a once in a lifetime opportunity for our small startup company. Canadian North Airlines even agreed to allow us to test our proof of concept design on their Boeing 737 aircraft. The test went better than anyone could have anticipated and now it has led to a new opportunity to develop a new Jet way heater for EIA.” says Koleya Karringten, President of ACI.
The Government of Alberta has supported Absolute Combustion International in multiple ways, including Alberta Innovates grants which have helped to fund the development of the technology and by helping to reduce the cost for international trade missions. This has allowed ACI to travel to the Middle East, Asia and Mexico. Without the support of the Alberta Government, ACI would not have met members of the AATC, discovered a new application in the aerospace industry and travelled internationally on trade missions.
“Absolute Combustion is making Alberta proud, creating new jobs at the same time as helping existing businesses save money and protect the environment,” said Deron Bilous, Minister of Economic Development and Trade. “That’s why we’ll keep supporting them and other Alberta small businesses looking to expand to new international markets. Showcasing Alberta companies abroad creates new opportunities at home.”
Government of Alberta assistance was also instrumental in the founding of the AATC. Since 2015 AATC has been focused on the development and attraction of aerospace and technology companies to Alberta.
“Absolute Combustion International, are widely recognized as game-changing innovators in the oil and gas industry, and we are thrilled to see them join the aviation industry as well, “said Tom Ruth, EIA President and CEO. “We welcome ACI to EIA’s AATC and are pleased to be a catalyst in the success of this incredible, locally-developed technology in aviation around the world.”
