(PRESS RELEASE) Hong Kong, 2025-Feb-10 — /Travel PR News/ — The prestigious 2024 Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award has been claimed by a remarkable 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, celebrated for its unparalleled design and engineering excellence. This award, presented at an exclusive ceremony held at The Peninsula Paris, honors the pinnacle of classic automotive achievement. The Ferrari 250 LM, which earned its spot after winning the Best in Show title at the 2024 Cavallino Classic, was one of nine elite cars considered for this coveted distinction.

Chris Cox, the proud owner of the 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, expressed his profound gratitude, saying, “It is an immense honor to receive The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award. Displaying a vehicle with such rich heritage at the world’s foremost concours and being selected for this prestigious recognition is a milestone every car collector dreams of.”

Unveiled in Paris in late 1963, the Ferrari 250 LM—designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti—was crafted as a Grand Touring variant of the mid-engine 250 P. Intended to replace the legendary Ferrari 250 GTO, the 250 LM made history with its 1965 victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only 32 units were ever made, with this specific model having raced extensively from 1965 to 1967, clinching wins at Brands Hatch, Snetterton, and Silverstone, and participating in the 1966 24 Hours of Daytona and the 1968 Le Mans.

The car, which was acquired by Cox in 2018, is not just a racing legend but a significant piece of Ferrari’s history. It was featured in the “Ferrari Forever” exhibition at the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena in 2022, and has appeared at major concours, including Pebble Beach. Recently, it was displayed at the 2024 Pebble Beach event during Ferrari’s 70th anniversary celebration in the United States.

Christian Philippsen, co-founder of The Peninsula Classics Best of the Best Award, remarked, “The 1964 Ferrari 250 LM is more than just a spectacular vehicle; it represents one of Ferrari’s most groundbreaking models with a storied competitive legacy. We are delighted to award it the Best of the Best honor.”

The award’s competition included other outstanding cars such as a 1932 Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 Spider, a 1957 Ferrari 335 S, and a 1937/1946 Delahaye 145 Cabriolet, among others. A panel of esteemed judges—including prominent automotive figures like designers Peter Brock and Fabio Filippini, and notable figures such as HRH Prince Michael of Kent and Jay Leno—selected the winner.
