CHICAGO, 2012-08-30 — /travelprnews.com/ — The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) today hosted its second “Connecting Airports Conference” at O’Hare International Airport. The day-long event brought together directors from regional airports that have connecting flights through O’Hare to meet with staff from the CDA, airlines, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Great Lakes Region, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Representatives from regional airports in South Carolina; Tennessee; Michigan; Wisconsin; Indianaand Illinois attended the conference. In addition to networking and discussing potential new service, the airport executives toured O’Hare’s airfield and participated in sessions on future airline route planning, the O’Hare Modernization Program (OMP), air cargo development, airport sustainability, wildlife management, as well as a roundtable discussion held in the O’Hare Urban Garden in Terminal 3.
“Airports, large or small, have a lot in common. Most importantly, we share customers,” said CDACommissioner Rosemarie S. Andolino. “We want travelers to have the best, most efficient and seamless experience possible, from the start of their trip to their final destination. That’s why, as airport operators, it’s important for us to understand each other’s strengths and challenges; where we need to make improvements and to share our visions for the future.”
The “Connecting Airports Conference” was developed by the CDA to strengthen the relationship between Chicago’s airports and regional airports that feed traffic into O’Hare. The first conference was held in December 2010.
