József Váradi, CEO of Wizz Air, said: “Wizz Air is pleased to present its summer schedule for 2013 for flights operating from Budapest and Debrecen that will stimulate tourism and offer Hungarian families low fares to exciting summer sun destinations. We are also delighted to launch a new route from Budapest to Geneva which will break the high fare monopoly stronghold of Easyjet on this route and grow the market between Hungary and Switzerland. Wizz Air, again, underlines its commitment to our home market and delivers good news for Hungarian business and consumers.”

“The city of Debrecen contacted Wizz Air four years ago with the idea of launching a flight but the market was not ready at that time. This year, on June 18th the scheduled Debrecen-London Luton flight was launched. Within this short period it has been made clear for us that this attempt has already turned out to be a success. Our intention to become part of the European traffic has been realized and we can now meet the needs of medical and wellness tourism, our university students’ travel demands, the industrial sector’s wishes and the major city festivals. We can bring more and more positive results thanks to the air connection provided by Wizz Air. This process will have a positive effect on the economic growth of the city and the region” – said Lajos Kósa, Mayor of Debrecen.

“We continuously talk to Wizz Air about the expansion of flights from Debrecen. In this spirit we fully take into account Wizz Air’s requests in the development of the airport’s infrastructure and in the improvement of service quality for the aircrafts and passengers” – announced István Herdon, representative of the company operating the Debrecen Airport.
