Wizz Air launches service from Satu Mare, Romania to London Luton


BUDAPEST, HUNGARY, 2016-Sep-05 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and Romania’s largest airline today announced it is adding Satu Mare as its newest Romanian destination, launching new service to London Luton.

Already the largest airline in Romania Satu Mare is becoming the tenth Romanian destination with WIZZ’s low fare flights. Starting from 31 October service from Satu Mare will connect the northwest Romanian city with London Luton two times a week on Mondays and Fridays. Wizz Air’s Satu Mare route is becoming the first international connection from the airport.

WIZZ’s first flight from Bucharest took off in 2007 and since then the airline has continuously grown its low-fare network in Romania – currently offering 120 routes to 18 countries from ten Romanian airports. WIZZ’s Romanian operations not only provide affordable access at WIZZ’s lowest fares between Romania and the rest of Europe, but also stimulate the local job market in aviation and tourism sectors. Over 600 Wizz Air colleagues currently work in Romania, looking forward to welcoming passengers on board WIZZ’s Romanian flights, which this year will support more than 3,300** jobs in associated industries throughout the country.

Demonstrating WIZZ’s dedication to its Romanian customers the airline is continuously investing in its Romanian operations and will grow its fleet in the country to 20 aircraft by the end of 2016, including 4 of the ultra-efficient brand new 230-seat Airbus A321. Throughout 2016 WIZZ has already announced and will start 28 new routes connecting Romania with the rest of Europe, including WIZZ’s first internal route connecting Bucharest with Cluj-Napoca which starts a new era in domestic Romanian air travel. Over the past 12 months ending 31 August 2016 Wizz Air carried more than 5 million passengers to and from Romania.
