Wizz Air adds third Airbus A320 aircraft at its Kyiv base at Zhuliany Airport in April 2018

3rd BASED AIRCRAFT AT KYIV, TWO NEW ROUTES, 11 ADDITIONAL WEEKLY FLIGHTS, MORE LOCAL JOBS

BUDAPEST, Hungary, 2017-Jul-17 — /Travel PR News/ — Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe and Ukraine’s leading low-cost carrier, today announced that it will further expand its Kyiv operations, adding a third Airbus A320 aircraft at its Kyiv base at Zhuliany Airport in April 2018, the 10th year of WIZZ’s base operations in the city. During the same month WIZZ will launch two exciting new routes from Kyiv to Lisbon in Portugal and Tallinn in Estonia, as well as increase weekly frequencies on the most popular services, adding a total of 11 weekly flights as part of WIZZ’s 2018 summer schedule from Kyiv. Tickets on all the new flights are already on sale on wizzair.com from just UAH 429*.

Operating in Ukraine continuously since 2008, today’s announcement brings WIZZ’s investment in its Kyiv base to almost $300 million** and in 2018 will offer in total more than 1.5 million seats on its Kyiv routes, a 97% growth year-on-year. The new aircraft will support the service on the two new routes starting on 19 April 2018 from Kyiv to Tallinn and Lisbon, with WIZZ’s Kyiv-Lisbon route being the only direct connection between the two capitals. Frequencies on some of WIZZ’s most popular routes from Kyiv will also increase with the arrival of the new aircraft, with one additional weekly flight to Bratislava, Copenhagen and Dortmund, and two additional weekly flights to Cologne, Memmingen, Larnaca and Hanover.

As an airline committed to its Ukrainian customers, WIZZ is the leading low-cost carrier in Ukraine and the WIZZ low-fare network brings affordable travel opportunities between Ukraine and the rest of Europe.  Wizz’s fast-growing Ukraine operation will continue to stimulate the local economy as it has done for the last 10 years, bringing increased employment in Ukraine’s aviation and tourism sectors and supporting more than 550 jobs*** this year in associated industries throughout the country. In the first six months of 2017, more than 193,000 passengers traveled with WIZZ on Ukraine routes, 33% more than in the same period of the previous year. In 2017, WIZZ re-started operations from Lviv with the recently launched services to Wroclaw and Berlin and added a second second Airbus A320 to its Kyiv fleet which will operate five new routes commencing in August. Expanding its operations in 2018 to three aircraft, Wizz Air will have a local staff of more 100 direct employees in Kyiv and will connect the Ukrainian capital with 21 destinations across 11 European countries.

Together with today’s announcement, Wizz Air also releases its 2018 summer schedule for Kyiv. For the next two weeks the fares will be exclusively available to WIZZ Discount Club members only, while from 26 July 2017, they will become available to everyone.
