VisitBritain holds flagship business event MeetGB

LONDON, UK, 2019-Apr-12 — /Travel PR News/ — VisitBritain’s flagship business event MeetGB gets underway this week highlighting to global buyers why the UK is the destination of choice for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).

VisitBritain is set to host 90 event planners from across Europe and North America who are coming together to do business with 85 suppliers from across the UK including destinations, venues, hotels, experiences and visitor attractions. The business event planners combined organise more than 1775 events annually.

The two-day trade event, being held at the historic De Vere Beaumont Estate in Windsor from Thursday 11 to Friday 12 April , will see more than 5,600 one-to-one prescheduled business meetings taking place between international buyers and UK suppliers. As well as doing business, delegates are attending seminars and networking events on innovations in the sector to boost their knowledge of the UK as a MICE destination.

Tourism Minister Michael Ellis said:

“MeetGB is a wonderful opportunity for us to promote the UK as a world-class destination for international business, visits and events. Through events like this we are building new global relationships, increasing investment in our economy and showcasing the best of our country to the world.”

VisitBritain Chief Executive Sally Balcolmbe said:

“We are delighted to welcome global buyers to MeetGB in Windsor this year, providing UK MICE suppliers with a valuable platform to promote their products on an international scale and highlighting what a fantastic destination we are for business events.”

The theme for this year’s MeetGB is the UK’s rich royal history with a gala dinner at the historic Hampton Court Palace with a banquet and entertainment in the iconic and historic medieval Great Hall.

Prior to the event buyers are this week spending three days on nine educational trips throughout the country. From Scotland to Devon attendees are visiting conference centres, hotels and local attractions to experience first-hand what is available for their events.

Now in its second year, MeetGB is sponsored by VisitEngland, Visit Wales, VisitScotland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

Events are GREAT drives awareness of Britain’s destinations and products, highlighting its history of research, innovation and high-quality infrastructure and positioning it as the leading global destination for business events.
