Visit Mexico City’s Most Famous Museums, Just Steps from Four Seasons Hotel Mexico DF

Museo Tamayo reopens this month.

México, D.F., Mexico 2012-09-21 — /travelprnews.com/ — One of the attractions of Four Seasons Hotel Mexico DF is its location in the financial, commercial and mainly, the cultural area of the city. Guests of the Hotel can walk and visit the city’s famous museums – the city has more than 300 in all.

The Hotel is located near the Castle of Chapultepec, now the Museo Nacional de Historia (National Museum of History), which was built during colonial times. This Museum is an emblematic building of the city and the Republic of Mexico, since a great part of the Mexican history of the 15th to the 20th centuries takes place in it. It was the residence of Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg and his wife Empress Carlota.

When exiting the Hotel, guests can walk to the Museo Tamayo contemporary art museum, recently reopened. This museum is considered national heritage, and after 31 years of hosting the most outstanding exhibitions of national and international contemporary art, it closed its doors to undergo an expansion, remodeling and restoration project of its facilities. Just this month of September it reopened its doors and is considered one of the most important museums in Latin America. In this museum the visitor is able to admire around 300 works of international art of the globally renowned painter Rufino Tamayo, as well as other contemporary artists. Without a doubt a museum one cannot miss.

Also a few steps away is the Museo Nacional de Antropologia (National Museum of Anthropology). It is one of the most important museums of Mexico and Latin America. It was designed to house and display the archaeological heritage of the peoples of Mesoamerica, as well as to give account of the current ethnic diversity of the country. The collection of the National Museum of Anthropology is comprised of numerous archaeological and ethnographic pieces from all Mexico.

Four Seasons is very near the city centre where many museums are located, such as the Munal (National Museum of Art), which contains a representative collection of Mexican art that goes from the colonial era until the fifties of the 20th century, and also presents different exhibitions throughout the year.

The Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (Palace of Fine Arts) is another museum located in the centre of the city. It houses the maximum expression of culture of the country, considered to be the most relevant Lyric Theatre of Mexico and the most important centre dedicated to the Fine Arts in all its manifestations. UNESCO declared it an artistic monument in 1987. The National Symphony Orchestra, The National Theater Company, The National Opera Company and The National Dance Company perform their seasons in this venue.

Mexico City is full of art, tradition and history. This city offers a host of cultural activities, as well as sports, entertainment and gastronomic experiences. Four Seasons offers guided tours to these museums and all others that guests wish to visit.
