Vancouver International Airport welcomes Air Canada’s new service between YVR and Sacramento International Airport

Air Canada’s new flight further expands airline’s growing network at YVR

Richmond, B.C., 2018-May-21 — /Travel PR News/ — Today (May 17, 2018), Vancouver International Airport (YVR) celebrated the inaugural flight for Air Canada’s service between YVR and Sacramento International Airport (SMF). The daily, year-round connection makes YVR the first Canadian airport to offer direct-non-stop service to Sacramento and further builds on Air Canada’s impressive growth at YVR, linking passengers and products to a key North American tourism and business hub.

“We are thrilled to welcome Air Canada’s new service connecting YVR to the sunny city of Sacramento,” said Anne Murray, YVR’s Vice President of Airline Business Development and Public Affairs. “We are committed to delivering an exceptional experience to our passengers and thanks to Air Canada these passengers have another great destination to connect to, with a wide range of tourism and business opportunities.”

Sacramento is an emerging North American destination, with a unique identity centred on its mix of characteristics. As California’s capital city, it enjoys a diverse economy, combined with a mix of historic features and an array of dining options. The city is well-known as one of the sunniest locations in the world during the summer season and for being a city of trees, rivers, parks and attractions.

“We are delighted to launch the only non-stop flights from Canada to Sacramento today, offering convenience to both business and leisure customers travelling between B.C. and Sacramento.  As the largest foreign carrier serving the U.S., we also look forward to connecting customers from California’s capital city area onward through our extensive global network via our Vancouver transpacific hub,” stated Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada.

The new, daily service operates on an Air Canada Express CRJ-900 76-seat aircraft configured with a choice of Business or Economy classes of service.  It departs YVR at 8:55am and arrives at SMF at 11:05am; it departs SMF at 11:45am and arrives at YVR at 1:57pm. In addition to offering passengers another key location, the new service brings considerable economic benefits to B.C. The operational and tourism impacts contribute $11.8 million in economic output and $6.1 million in GDP in B.C.

New services such as this are made possible thanks to YVR’s five-year airline rates and charges program, ConnectYVR. The program provides a highly competitive rate structure and includes rates lower than any other major airport in Canada and competing U.S. airports.
