Two Grand Jersey employees are shortlisted for prestigious Hotel Cateys awards

2012-09-20 — /travelprnews.com/ — The shortlist of nominations for this year’s respected Hotel Cateys award has been announced and features two names from Grand Jersey. The awards, organised by Caterer and Hotelkeeper magazine, were launched in 2007 and are designed for hoteliers to celebrate the achievements of their staff and give them the recognition they deserve.

Richard Allen, award-winning executive head chef of Grand Jersey’s Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant, Tassili, has been shortlisted in the Hotel Chef of the Year (with less than 250 covers) category. It adds to a great year so far for Richard and the team at Tassili. In June, Richard won the Restaurant Chef of the Year category at the prestigious Craft Guild of Chefs Awards shortly after being recognised in the esteemed Debrett’s 2012 People of Today list. In August, Tassili was included in the Good Food Guide 2013 and featured in Chef Magazine’s list of its favourite five restaurants.

Adelina Serrao, head housekeeper at Grand Jersey, is a chosen finalist for the Housekeeper of the Year Award category. The award is open to all housekeepers who exemplify first-class cleanliness and hygiene in bedroom preparation, manage a housekeeping team, and must be committed to the efficient running of the housekeeping department.

Eamonn Elliot, Grand Jersey’s general manager, said ‘We are thrilled that two members of Grand Jersey have been recognised for all their hard work and dedication to excellence, especially on the back of Tasilli’s recent inclusion in the Good Food Guide 2013. I am immensely proud of our continued success and noteworthy achievements’.

Mark Lewis, editor of Catering and Hotelkeeper magazine commented, ‘Guests visit a hotel for any number of reasons, but they return thanks to wonderful welcomes, brilliant breakfasts and a great night’s sleep. Efficient and enthusiastic hoteliers and employees make this happen. Guests expect some pampering in the spa, a memorable family meal, even a speedy and secure Internet connection. Couples might want some privacy, while business travellers might simply want to slump in their room with some room service. Hotel Catey winners deliver on these demands while making sure their particular business is as stunning as their service. Every operation has outstanding achievers, people these awards are designed to celebrate’.

The winners will be revealed at an evening of celebration at the Lancaster, Lancaster Terrace, London, on Friday 16th November 2012.
